Greetings from Duncan,
Yonex Choose Hele Park As Custom Fit Centre
For The South West
Due to the ongoing success of our state-of-the-art
custom-fitting centre, Yonex have chosen us to
promote and custom-fit their new range of products!
Our studio now has all the leading names - Callaway,
Titleist, Mizuno, Yonex, Cobra, Wilson and many
more, to give our customers the largest choice
of products and demo equipment in the southwest.
Rain Stopping Play? Not at Hele!
We know how frustrating it is when the weather
halts your progress; we have put our heads together
and we came up with the perfect solution! Ladies
and Gentlemen I give you…
Duncan’s All-Weather
Challenge!
Next time you come to practise, take up Duncan’s
Challenge at…
· 5 attempts at Nearest The Pin on our
Simulator
· 10 attempts at a Longest Drive on the
Cobra Speed Monitor
· 10 attempts at Target Practice into
50-yard target net
· 10 attempts at Putting on the 9 foot
All-Weather Putting Green.
All entrants’ scores will be added up and
the winner will receive a Cobra Tour Bag worth £150.
Entry fee is £2, which includes balls – good
luck!
As an added bonus, all entrants will have a
free custom fit on their driver, wedge and putter.
Chris and I competed at Exeter Golf & Country
Club in the Devon PGA Medal where Chris came
a credible fifth position. I’m ashamed
to admit that I managed to DQ myself by not counting
the number of clubs in my bag! 15 duh!!!! I had
been trying out a new gap wedge and forgot to
take out my old one. The obvious answer was to
blame my caddy, but unfortunately, I didn’t
have one so the blame lies firmly with myself!
Special Offer
Anybody coming in to be fitted for a pair of
FootJoy ReelFit shoes will receive 2 free pairs
of FootJoy socks. Watch the demonstration video
on http://www.footjoy.com/reelfit/.
You will notice the vouchers on this week’s
newsletter. This is a great opportunity for you
to have a full MOT on your clubs before the season
gets underway and I really hope that lots of
you take advantage of this special offer.
We carry on this week with our features on
the importance of fitting and bring you the amazing
new lacing system from FootJoy with their new
ReelFit shoes.
Enjoy the read.
Regards,
Duncan

IN YOUR SHOP
New in this week, we have the latest range from
Yonex, Wilson & Callaway.
Included in each range are the new high-trajectory
drivers ranging from 13-14 degree loft. A common
myth amongst most golfers is that they hit their
driver too high. If you watched elite golfers
driving, you would be amazed how high the tour
players launch the ball. Recent research suggests
the optimum launch angle for distance and carry
is 14 degrees, hence why these new products are
on the market.
BAZOOKA TO YOUR RESCUE!
Are you one of the many golfers who struggle
to use longer irons and want more distance?
Then the Bazooka Rescue iron wood is for you!
Utility rescue iron woods have been a sensation
in the last few years of golf and have improved
thousands of golfers’ games.
The larger heads and low centre of gravity make
these easy clubs to use and because of the light
shafts they produce a longer flight. If you haven’t
been rescued yet, please call in with your voucher
for a free demo and see for yourself how much
difference these clubs can make. Rescue iron
woods are now available in the shop from £30
upwards.
BE FIRST TO PLAY WITH THE SRIXON ZUR-C GOLF
BALL
I recently ran a special offer that allowed you
to order the new Srixon ZUR-C golf ball before
it was even launched. There was a competition
for all those that ordered using the special
web ordering system.
The winner was Darryl Jones from Bath Golf Club.
Darryl picks up two tickets to the BMW Championship
at Wentworth.Look out for more “Exclusive
for you” offers through your pro shop.
YOU AGREE THE GOLF SWING ISN'T NATURAL
Golf is not an easy game. Do you identify with
that comment? Well how about the research that
proves that golf is the hardest eye-club/racquet-ball
sport (and the ball stays still!) to play. I
know you can accept that fact.
The skill, to get the club back around your body
and then to unwind / unload and hit a small (I
know its stationary) golf ball, getting it airborne,
straight toward a target, is a complex one to
master. But despite the difficulty over a million
of us in the UK try very hard to get it right.
Over 800,000 of those golfers
attempt to improve with a club head that has
even less chance of returning square to the
golf ball because at least two of the following
statements are true: their golf shaft is the
wrong length, their golf shaft strength is
too strong, their lie angle is at least 1° out,
their grip size is too small or their golf
club is too heavy.
Given the challenge that we have agreed the
golf swing presents us with, would it surprise
you to know that the HIGHER the handicap the
LESS LIKELY a golfer is to have their golf clubs
fitted.
Now, how does that work? “If you already
find the game difficult then let’s make
it more difficult”. There must be something
that I am missing here, but let me test it. If
you are over 10 handicap and had a professional
fitting before buying your Irons then mail me
with what was the result you experienced?
A GIANT LEAP FOR GOLFERS
If you are interested in a golf shoe that fits
you perfectly for all eighteen holes and a golf
shoe that leaves you happier with your game,
and your feet in the changing rooms afterwards,
then this might interest you.
FootJoy has taken another giant leap ahead in
technology to deliver you a golf shoe that we
can fit perfectly to your feet: The FootJoy ReelFit
shoe. We fit you properly and then you ‘dial-in’ an
adjustment to create a lasting custom fit that
is perfect for your feet.
The immediate difference is the lacing system,
which first runs from the traditional position
before heading up and around the ankle support
to the heel.
The ‘BOA lacing system’,
which is used in cycling and snow sports, tightens
your golf shoes so that the fit is secure not
just across the top of your foot but it also
holds the whole foot below the ankle joint
for increased support and comfort.
The adjustment is made by simply turning a dial
on the heel of the shoe which allows you tighten
the lacing system. Then just pull the dial out
to release.
It is such a simple way to make sure that your
shoes fit snugly to your feet and that will translate
to more than just comfort for you. It will mean
greater stability throughout your entire round.
Increased stability on your feet will ensure
that you have a more stable platform from which
to generate power into your golf swing before
unwinding it on the way down and through impact.
Increased stability translates into less uncontrolled
movement and more effective hitting power.
You’ll notice the difference with these
shoes in your golf swing and won’t feel
them up the 18th. That’s what you are searching
for from a pair of golf shoes. But it all starts
with a proper fitting.
Have a great week and good luck to all of you
playing this weekend.
Regards
Duncan
