December 2006
Greetings
from Duncan,
It was great to
have the course open for the weekend giving us
the opportunity to witness the 2007 Captain’s
Drive In. Phil Steele (Captain), Issie MacFarlane
(Lady Captain), Brian Holdford (Seniors’ Section),
Irene Berry (Lady Vets’ Section) and Andy
Steele (Juniors’ Section) all did their honorary
drives.
2 of the 5 captains
managed to put their ball out of bounds but we’ll leave you to
work out which ones it was. I wish them a successful
and enjoyable year. It would be churlish to mention
the final score of the new Ladies’ Captain
Issie MacFarlane (3 points) so we won’t.
Playing 9 holes off ¾ handicap the winners
of the fresh turkeys were John Ward and Malcolm
Asker with 19 points for the men and Tricia Underwood
with 16 points for the ladies (unofficial winners
until the computer gets over its nervous breakdown).
Congratulations must go to our 2006 Captains
for raising £7,500 for their charities – Macmillan
Nurses and Devon Air Ambulance. The charities chosen
by this year’s captains are Epilepsy Action
and the English Blind Golfers’ Association.
The AGM and prize giving was held on Thursday
and it was great to see so many different winners.
It is always pleasing to see the players who
practice and have regular lessons picking up
so many trophies.
I wrap up this week with the look back on 2006
and encourage you to send me your views. Read
on about the amazing Q-Link and order yours for
Christmas. Remember that as your golf pro I need
as much feedback so as to better equip me in
providing you with the best possible service,
send me an email, give me a call or simply pop
in for a chat before your next round.
Don’t forget to cut out your Christmas Vouchers…
Regards
Duncan

2006: Looking For Your Feedback
I’ve spent the last two weeks looking at
the advances that have been made with equipment
during 2006. Buried within my concern at the “Bigger,
Faster, Further” sales pitches made by
suppliers; usually in adverts featuring an endorsed
Tour Pro capable of ripping a Driver 350m or
dropping a Wedge onto a 2m square patch of green
and stopping it (despite the fact they were in
deep rough); I think 2006 has been about making
golf an easier game for people to get into and
a game where MOST of us can experience more enjoyment.
Well done to every manufacturer that has set
out to achieve that result.
I wanted to achieve the same result in 2006.
I wanted to help more of my members make equipment
choices that were right for their game and where
they wanted to take it. I also definitely wanted
to see more of my members being fitted correctly
for their golf equipment. I would like to have
succeeded with more of you than I did in 2006.
If you advertise further and faster using a top
tournament
professional, then what happens when they
are injured or suffer a loss of form?
But I guess it would seem silly if a full page
advert
in GolfWorld featured one of our members holding
their follow through endorsing a Driver.
What is it that would make you more likely to
book a fitting? What can we do to make that an
opportunity (especially given the results golfers
achieve from fitted golf equipment) that you
would want to explore? If you bought equipment
or would buy equipment without a fitting, I’d
be really interested in your thinking.
So please, end the year by giving me some feedback
on your views on ‘Fitting’. Click
here to mail me (or of course you can just mail
duncan.arnold@foremostgolf.com) or even search
us out in the shop and talk to us about your
views.
Bringing Order
To Your Mental Game
Last week I talked about the positive impact
improved concentration, focus and energy levels
could have on your scorecard. And I introduced
Q-Link technology which could help you improve
these things. Before
you do anything else, I strongly recommend that
you watch their short DVD on how it works – click
here to watch www.qlinkworld.co.uk/what_people_say2
Well I have had many people asking me about these
little gadgets – are they gimmicks, do
they actually work, sounds too good to be true?
I have many colleagues and friends that wear
the Q-Link, they have noticed less stress in
the office as well as a reduction of frustration
on the golf course. But what really swung it
for me was seeing the amount of unpaid testimonials
from some of the world’s top golfers, which
just doesn’t
happen in the golf industry.
Don’t take my word for it – here
is what several of the top Pros are saying:
Justin Rose, US PGA Tour: “The amount
of victories Q-Link has had tends to outweigh
all of the other products on tour. This really
helps my recovery. My game’s been
steadily improving.
Greg Owen, PGA Tour: “With Q-Link
you stay in the zone longer: you can concentrate
longer.”
Mark Calcavecchia, US PGA Tour: "I believe my
last 2 wins were because I had the Q-Link around
my neck. I believe with the Q-Link I get that
extra edge that allows me to keep up with these
young guys.”
Birdie Kim, LPGA: “The Q-Link played a
significant role in my victory at the US Open.”
Charles Howell III, US PGA: “I’ve
been wearing Q-Link now for 4 years and I absolutely
know that Q-Link will help you and everybody’s
golf game.
Bruce Fleisher, Senior PGA Tour: “If you
are a golfer and don’t buy a Q-Link and
wrap it around your neck you will never reach
your potential.”
More interestingly in a survey this summer of
over 10,000 Q-Link customers found the following
statistics:
Over 54% Q-Link wearers reduced their handicap
by an average of 3 shots.
74% have seen significant improvements to their
golf game
88% improved their putting – especially
those suffering from the Yips.
90% had more energy
85% had more concentration and focus
In addition 85% of those with sleeping problems
saw improvements, 72% of women reduced their
PMT, 72% had less road rage and 80% recovered
quicker from hangovers.
You can check out their website for all the research
and testimonials from other wearers including
tennis player Pat Cash.
With Christmas coming up, wouldn’t you
like to drink more, sleep more, have no arguments
and actually enjoy the festivities? Moreover
you can try the black and white New Design Q-Links
risk free for 90 days.
