Chinese New Year Celebrations in Tunbridge Wells 2018
4th February 2013 heralds the Chinese year of the Snake with Chinese New Year’s Day on the 10th February. If you were hoping to join in the celebrations then you will be pleased to know that Tunbridge Wells is planning to celebrate the Chinese New Year. There will be the opportunity to make Chinese lanterns at one of the many lantern workshops, a family fun day and a Winter Lantern Parade.
Lantern Workshops
At the lantern workshops you can either make your own small lantern or join in to make a bigger one. Please note that children need to be accompanied by an adult.
19 January (10.30-15.00): St Paul’s School, Rusthall

2 February (10.30-15.00): TN2 Community Centre, Sherwood

(Note that children need to be accompanied by an adult at all times).
Family Fun Day
The family fun day will be held on the same day as the Winter Lantern Parade (16th February) at the Tunbridge Wells Museum. Drop in any time between 11.00 and 16.00 and partake in hunting for candlesticks, lamps and lanterns; there will also be an opportunity to make your own lantern.
Winter Lantern Parade
The Winter Lantern Parade starts at 17.30 on Saturday 16th February. It begins outside Tunbridge Wells Library, travels down Monson Road and Camden Road, finishing at St Barnabas School where there will be refreshments and entertainment.
